New survey for pharmacy technicians

A new survey seeking the views and lived experiences of community pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacy technicians across England has been launched today (October 17) by Health Education England (HEE).

The survey, which focuses on education, training and leadership opportunities aims to understand the barriers faced by pharmacy technicians within the community pharmacy sector. A recent community pharmacy workforce survey data showed a 44 per cent drop in pharmacy technician placements in community pharmacy since the last survey, carried out in 2017.

Speaking at the Pharmacy Show 2022, pharmacy clinical fellow at HEE South, Lindsay Steel said she was “hoping information from the questionnaire would support the sector to grow in the future.

“Time is needed,” she added, “to reflect on what has been learnt, how it can be shared across boundaries as well as identifying the benefits that will come. Delivering on these objectives is only going to be possible with the support of well-trained pharmacy teams.”
